ABC’s “V” A Knock Against The Obama Administration?

I think so. Having watched the original mini-series from 1983 and the ill-fated TV series from 1984, I anxiously awaited the premier of the modern version. I liked it. It isn’t exactly a remake but is close enough to the original story that several items seemed familiar.

What really grabbed me were the parallels between the V storyline and the realities of the Obama administration. Here are some of the more overt items:

  • During the interview with “Anna,” the supreme commander of the V’s (Visitors), Anna made clear to journalist Chad Decker that there were to be no questions asked that would paint the V’s in a negative light. Compare this to Barack Obama who in real life stacked his own Town Hall meeting on Health Care with supporters who would only be allowed to ask him easy questions that he could respond to positively. Or compare this to the treatment that reporters get if they so much as dare to ask a hard question of Obama or his administration. Certainly, Obama’s efforts to cut Fox News out of the information loop is a direct parallel to Anna’s threat to cancel the interview if her instructions were not followed.
  • The “Peace Ambassador” program the V’s are offering to young people are analogous to Obama’s efforts at winning college and high school students to his cause. Sounds very much like recruiting kids to the Service Corps or ACORN. Maybe even like teachers getting elementary school children to chant “Barack Hussein Obama! Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!”
  • During the interview, Anna says that the V’s want to provide health care to every single human on the planet. Chad responds by saying “Universal Health Care?” The implication there is extremely obvious.

The overall plot is that these aliens (reptiles disguised as humans) come to earth and claim a benevolent dispostion but are really hiding their true intentions. In other words, they have no intention of keeping their promises but are more interested in using humanity to their own ends. There is a parallel here too. During the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama made many promises that he has consistently failed to keep. For example, he promised an open and transparent government, even going so far as to promise that C-SPAN would be allowed full coverage of all aspects of the health care debate, and yet he and other Dems make deals and concoct plans behind closed doors away from the public eye.

I’m not ready to believe that Hollywood is swinging from flaming liberal to pragmatic Conservative. But I do believe that ABC may finally have its finger on the pulse of the American people.

I hope this series succeeds and that it helps to intensify a national debate about our current occupant of the Oval Office.

ABC’s Charlie Gibson ‘Didn’t Know’ About The ACORN Videos?

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin on this one.

ACORN Watch: Charlie Gibson And The Ostrich Media
Michelle Malkin
September 15, 2009

From which we glean the following:

Charlie Gibson told WLS-AM Chicago talk show hosts Don Wade and Roma this morning that the reason he hasn’t covered the ACORN scandal is that he didn’t know about it.

Reader Patrick M. e-mails:

While listening to Don Wade and Roma this morning on WLS AM Chicago, they had Charlie Gibson on as their usual Tuesday morning guest. Don asked Charlie, why, after the senate last night voted to halt funding to ACORN and after three of those video tapes of ACORN employees helping the pimp and prostitute set up shop, there was no mention of it anywhere on the network news. Charlie gave out a most uncomfortable laugh and said that that was the first he heard of it!

Don and Roma pointed out that ABC’s Jake Tapper reported on the Census Bureau’s decision to drop ACORN from its data collection partnerships on Friday as a result of BigGovernment.com’s video stings.

Now, how is it possible that a Joe Average American like me, with nothing more than my computer terminal hooked up to the Internet, was able to gather all of the following information over the past week:

VIDEO: ACORN Aids And Abets Child Sex Trade

A Second set Of Videos Exposing ACORN

New Videos Showing 3rd ACORN Office Offering Advice On Prostitution Ring

Glenn Beck: 2, Obama Administration: 0

And yet, Charlie Gibson, with the vast resources of ABC at his disposal was somehow so insulated that he “didn’t know?”

This is why Gibson can only be accurately described as a DNC newsreader rather than any kind of real journalist. In the immortal words of the Nickelodeon Television series iCarly, Gibson is a “nub.”

If anyone from ABC wishes to take issue with my analysis, please feel free to respond.

Obama Seeks To Cover His True Intentions Regarding Health Care

I honestly don’t know what is more infuriating. The fact that Obama is lying about how he wants this health care package to play out, or the fact that so many people in Old Media are willing to do or say anything to make him sound legit.

Mike Allen at the Politico has this story about Obama’s response to a video that clearly shows him saying that he will eliminate private health insurance:

The White House response features Linda Douglass, formerly an ABC News correspondent and now a White House official, showing Drudge’s homepage on the screen of her office computer.

The video begins: “Hi. I’m Linda Douglass. I’m the communications director for the White House Office of Health Reform, and one of my jobs is to keep track of all the disinformation that’s out there about health-insurance reform. And there are a lot of very deceiving headlines out there right now, such as this one — take a look at this one. This one says, ‘Uncovered Video: Obama Explains How His Health Care Plan Will Eliminate PRIVATE Insurance.’”

Now, Linda never once says that anything in the uncovered video was untrue or made up. She can’t. Because in that video, Barack Obama said everything by himself. You can access that video on-line here:

And you will see and hear Barack Obama speak the following words:

“I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There’s going to be, potentially, some transition process: I can envision a decade out, or 15 years out, or 20 years out.”

Note that Obama used the words: “I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate …” Clearly, one of Obama’s goals is to completely get rid of private coverage through employers. Otherwise, there was absolutely no need whatsoever for him to say what he said.

And let’s not forget what Obama said back in 2003:

Obama In ‘03 (Uncut)
Breitbart.tv
August 4, 2009

You will hear and see Obama say:

“I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.”

Obama clearly and unambiguously says: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program.”

Although he claims people will be able to keep priavate coverage, he gives no explanation whatsoever as to how private insurance companies are going to be able to compete against the taxpayer-subsidized “public option.”

Obama is playing a game of smoke and mirrors here. It is the White House putting out misinformation about the health care bill and Obama’s true intentions with the program, not the people investigating it. We need to get as much information as possible out to the public about what is in this disastrous health care takeover bill and make sure that it dies the death it deserves.

Some Quick Thoughts On The Tax Day Tea Parties

I’ve been looking at the news and comparing the ways each network covered the Tax Day Tea Parties. Of course, left-leaning news outlets said every possible negative thing they could have said about the demonstrations, even things that were not true. It is those untrue items I wish to discuss here.

Item #1: The claim that Fox News orchestrated the 800 or so Tea Party events around the nation for a ratings boost.

The truth: Fox News simply covered the events, they did not orchestrate them. They presented the story in a fair, objective manner and were about the only network to do so. ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN all parroted the same lines over and over as if they were reading some talking points that someone handed to them.

Item #2: The claim that Rush Limbaugh orchestrated the 800 or so Tea Party events arouind the nation.

The truth: Rush may be the most popular talk radio host in the world right now, but I do not remember him ever putting forth one single idea or plan one little detail of any of those demonstrations. In fact, I don’t even recall his name being mentioned at any of the 800 events.

Item #3: The claim that the rich orchestrated these Tea Parties in an effort to justify their own greed.

The truth: Well, I don’t remember seeing very many rich people on the television or Internet news coverage of the Tea Parties. In fact, I saw mainstream Joe and Jane Average Americans. I saw parents with children. I saw small business owners. If there were any rich people in those crowds, they blended in quite nicely.

img_0396

So, why am I bringing all of this up? Because these Tea Parties are not the end. There will be more demonstrations against the excesses of the current leftist-controlled federal government as time goes on. As Congress passes more “intolerable acts” and Barack Obama signs them into law, people will become more and more angry and demand that the government finally listen to them.

Now, far from trying to correct the above misconceptions, I actually want to see Old Media and groups like ACORN and MoveOn.org coninue to spread those lies. Why? Because it is a major advantage for our side if they do so.

As long as Old Media is assigning responsibility to the wrong crowd, the people who really did organize and mobilize these Tea Parties will be free to continue their planning and organizing unhindered and unfettered by distractions. They will be free to plan and organize new Freedom demonstrations for the coming 4th of July. Further, the more that the left attacks Fox, Rush and others, the more that the organizers and planners will know how big of an impact they really made.

So, to all the hate-mongers over on the left, please, continue shouting that Fox News or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or Neal Boortz put these things together. The more you convince yourselves of that, the more you will leave the real planners and organizers alone to plan and organize more. It is the best thing you can do for our side.

Charles Gibson Gets It Wrong In His Attempt At A ‘Gotcha’ Question

Who are the Dems and the left kidding? They are not advocating “change” of any kind. They are simply trying to bring back the same old tired out failings that the left has been peddling for years. And it is not just the Obama camp but it is also the media that supports Obama who are guilty of this.

Take for example Charles Gibson. He clearly meant for his interview with Governor Sarah Palin to be a hit-piece and I am sure that the – ahem – “forum” to be hosted by George Stephanopoulos will uncover every single little detail to “prove” Govenor Palin is unfit, even if it means making a mountain out of a molehill.

Gibson already laid the groundwork for this by making a major mistake in his pre-interview research and then allowing the mistake, Govenor Palin’s attempt at a correction and his assertion that he was correct, to be broadcast.

John Podhoretz of Commentary Magazine caught it:

ABC has released excerpts from Charlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah Palin, and in one of them, he attempts to catch her out by asking her to explain something she said:

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

In fact, it was not the exact quote; and the way Gibson quoted her is a complete misrepresentation of what she said. It may, indeed, be close to the opposite of what she said. This is the actual quote, and it’s from an article in a Palin-unfriendly source, The Huffington Post:

“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God,” she exhorted the congregants. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”

She was asking the congregation to “pray…that our leaders…are sending [soldiers] out on a task that is from God.”

She was precisely not declaring that the task was from God. She specifically said the church’s congregants should pray “that that plan is God’s plan.” There would be no need for such a prayer if it were a fact to her and to them.

Gibson gave a misleading quote, Governor Palin let him know that it was misleading, and Gibson stood by his mistake. And now he has been caught.

Governor Palin went on to explain:

“[T]he reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln’s words when he said…let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God’s side.”

Lincoln’s quote: “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.”
